Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the second phase of India's semiconductor policy, Semicon 2.0, is set to be implemented within the next 3-4 months. Speaking at Semicon India 2024, he highlighted that five projects with a combined investment of ₹1.5 lakh crore have been approved, with construction already underway for two plants. The minister emphasized a focus on developing a comprehensive semiconductor ecosystem, including equipment manufacturing and specialized materials, to attract further investments and enhance India's position in the global semiconductor landscape.
