Cabinet Approves Rs 1.26 Lakh Crore Investment for Three Chip Plants, Including India’s First Semiconductor Fab by Tata
The Union Cabinet has greenlit three semiconductor plant proposals, with Tata Electronics and Taiwan’s Powerchip Semiconductor Manufacturing Corp. (PSMC) set to establish India’s first fab in Dholera, Gujarat, at a cost of Rs 91,000 crore. Expected to employ 26,000 people directly and nearly 1 lakh indirectly, the venture marks a significant step in India's semiconductor manufacturing journey.
